Young people in Brøndby can now get professional advice on sexual and mental health. A new collaboration between Brøndby Municipality and "UngeLiv - Sexual Health and Well-being" in Hvidovre provides access to free contraception, tests for STDs and conversations with healthcare professionals.
With UngeLiv in Hvidovre, young people from Brøndby now have a place where they can get anonymous guidance on sexuality, body and well-being. Here they can meet healthcare professionals with specialized knowledge of young people's health and get advice on everything from contraception to emotional challenges.
Drop-in sessions are open Tuesdays from 12-2pm and Thursdays from 3-5pm, but you can also book an appointment on other weekdays. As part of the collaboration, Brøndby Municipality provides an employee from the Youth and Family Team for 3.5 hours a week and covers the costs of healthcare professionals.
UngeLiv has existed since 2022 and has already had more than 800 young people through their counseling. According to an evaluation by the Danish Health Authority in 2024, the program has had a positive effect on young people's well-being and ability to make informed choices about their sexual health.
The program will initially run until 2026, when an evaluation will determine how many young people from Brøndby have taken advantage of it and what effect it has had. The results will determine whether the collaboration should continue or be expanded.
