Bamboo is much more than a simple support: it’s an elegant and versatile play partner, capable of shifting from an intriguing obstacle to the central element of a suspension. In this workshop, we’ll explore its endless possibilities, combining technique, fluidity, and sensory intensity.

We’ll begin by looking at what inspired me to explore bamboo as a tool to manipulate the body and create ever-new forms of restriction. Then we’ll move to vertical and floating bamboo, where its light, unstable motion becomes a lever for perception, sparking surprise, vertigo, and emotional depth.

We will tackle both static suspensions and, through line management, build fluid transitions in suspension, expanding our technical and creative toolbox.

A journey weaving together precision and surrender, solidity and instability, technique and sensation: learning to let the ropes converse with an element that breathes, moves, and opens new spaces of connection.

PROGRAMME

– How to choose, prepare, and suspend with bamboo

– Different technical strategies to tie on vertical bamboo

– Exercises on dynamic transitions in suspension

– Demonstration and practice of some of my classic patterns

MINIMUM PRE-REQUISITIONS

– Good knowledge of gote/takatekote and safety basics

– Solid familiarity with suspensions and suspension lines

BRING

– A rope set of at least 8–9 pieces, 7–8 m long, 5–6 mm diameter

– Only jute or hemp ropes are allowed — no cotton ropes.

FEE

DKK 3200 / € 430 per couple
